The below report is a summary of the 2025–2026 Limerick ryegrass/clover hay results and what they mean in practical feeding terms.
This season’s conditions shifted protein, fibre, sugar and minerals, so I’ve focused on the key points: how the hay is likely to behave in the horse, who it suits best, and what (if anything) we’d adjust with balancing and management.
I went into the WSC & the effects of the VFA you use to help with hay, as I think it's worth investigating with the suppliers of the Acid to see if this happens with their research as well.
For horses, we have to remember that they are not ruminants; we want lower sugars compared to cattle.
